About

Paint it Black is a home and lifestyle blog where you’ll find articles, editorials, ideas and personal accounts of everyday growth, wellness, and creative pursuits. I also talk about renovations, design, function and decor. And peppered into that, some reviews, recommendations and favorite things.

Transform your space, yourself, your everyday life, and transform your ideas into a reality.

As new homeowners, my hubby and I are transforming our home into something we can love for years to come plus some personal changes, good habits and insights along the way.

It’s about creating a home and a life you love, one that supports

healing, authenticity, clarity, transformation, and aha moments!

One that feels intentional.

Paint it Black exists because starting this new chapter in life began with a new home and a growing list of small projects then…major renovations we didn’t see coming; but somewhere in between choosing finishes, learning new skills, living through a construction zone, and watching our space take shape slowly, plus going through some major health challenges I realized that blogging could be a great way to gain clarity, to process, to recapture my creativity and to help anyone else from our lessons learned and problems solved.

I named this space Paint it Black because:

1. The song, everyone knows it, if you google what that song is about, it’s about grief, bereavement and severe depression over loss. Sometimes you might find yourself here. It’s not all pretty but there will be some below the surface content here. My focus is on transformation and clarity.

2. Our new home, which we bought last year has a black and white theme going and we loved it and just kept it going. Our kitchen is black & white, two of our bathrooms are as well and I also took on some painting projects in the first few months and yes they were things I painted black. The back step project–here. And The Dresser before and after–here.
